Covid-19 cases are again on the rise with Thanksgiving just a few weeks away.  This year Thanksgiving festivities may look a bit different.  Because of possible restrictions you won’t have a packed house, instead it’ll be just your immediate family.  Or you may decide to spend the holiday alone.  Whatever you decide there are ways to celebrate Thanksgiving while keeping everyone safe.

  • Wear a mask with at least three layers to stop the spread of Covid-19.  Make sure the mask fits snug against the sides of your face and covers your nose and mouth securely under your chin.
  • Stay 6 feet away from family members or friends that do not live in your household.  Not everyone will show symptoms and may be spreading Covid-19 unknowingly.  So keeping 6 feet away from people who are at higher risk of getting sick is very important.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.  Keep hand sanitizer with you in case you are unable to wash your hands.
  • If you are attending a gathering remember to wear a mask and safely store it while eating and drinking.  Avoid going in and out of areas where food is being prepared.  Use single use condiment packets and disposable items such as plates, cups, and utensils.
  • If you are hosting a gathering make sure everyone follows all safety steps.  Limit the number of guests you invite to the gathering.  Speak with them before hand so they have an understanding of safety expectations.  Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces such as counters and door knobs.  If weather permits have an outdoor meal but if you must celebrate indoors make sure to open windows.  Also, when serving food have only one person serve and use disposable utensils.
Do you plan on traveling?
  • Make sure to check with the state you are traveling to if there are any restrictions.
  • Wear your mask in public and if you are traveling on public transportation.
  • Practice safe distancing by staying 6 feet apart from people.
  • Wash your hands often or use hand sanitizer.
  • When out avoid touching your mask, eyes, nose, and mouth to avoid spreading germs.
  • Bring extra supplies with you, such as hand sanitizer, masks, disposable bags, and wipes.
